About Gill

My name is Gillian Brazier, although most of my friends call me Gill, and I live in Crawley, in the heart of the Sussex Weald, England. In my day job I am a Higher Level Teaching Assistant at a local Primary School, working with individual children, and small groups across the school, although a lot of my time this year will be with year 6 pupils. It is a job I thoroughly enjoy, but the early afternoon finishes mean that I have time to indulge my creative alter ego - to design and make jewellery. I have made jewellery on and off for many years. When I was a poor teenager (and I am not about to tell you how long ago that was!), I made presents for my family and friends, using tumble polished gemstones. When my children were small I remember making elasticated bracelets for the school fair, and earrings that I wore myself, or gave away as gifts. Then, when my husband was made redundant in 2006, making jewellery seemed to be the obvious way to earn a bit of extra 'pocket money', so I began making beaded earrings and selling them to friends and family. I had such a positive response that I decided to take it further. Instead of keeping the 'pocket money', I reinvested the small profit I had made, and searched out better quality materials, including Swarovski crystals, and so Gillian's Jewels was born. Again I received a very positive response. I branched out, and held a number of jewellery parties, and attended some charity functions. Then my son offered to design a website for me, and here I am!

I design and handcraft all the jewellery on the website, and I am constantly developing my skills and extending the ranges of jewellery I produce. So, if you are looking for something in particular, or if you see something on the website that you like, but it needs to be customised in some way - for example, longer/shorter chain, different colour, or combination of crystals etc. - email me and I will see what I can do.
